Each step up is 1,000× the one below it. Bitcoin network hashrate is quoted in EH/s, a modern ASIC in TH/s, and a GPU in MH/s.

Hashrate measures how many hash attempts a machine or a network makes each second, and the units step up by factors of 1,000: kilohash, megahash, gigahash, terahash, petahash, exahash and zettahash. The scale matters because different parts of the industry are quoted at different magnitudes. A GPU is measured in MH/s, a modern Bitcoin ASIC in TH/s, a large mining pool in EH/s, and the whole Bitcoin network in hundreds of EH/s. This converter shows a single figure in every unit at once so you can move between spec sheets, pool dashboards and network statistics without arithmetic errors.

FAQ

How big is each step?

Every unit is 1,000 times the one below it: 1 kH/s is 1,000 H/s, 1 MH/s is 1,000 kH/s, and so on up through GH/s, TH/s, PH/s, EH/s and ZH/s.

Which unit will I see where?

GPUs are usually quoted in MH/s, Bitcoin ASICs in TH/s, mining pools in PH/s or EH/s, and the whole Bitcoin network in EH/s.
