Electricity is usually the largest ongoing cost in mining, and it is straightforward to calculate: power draw in kilowatts, multiplied by hours run, multiplied by your rate per kilowatt-hour. Enter a machine's watts, how many hours a day it runs, your electricity rate and how many machines you have, and this returns the cost per day, month and year alongside the energy consumed. A month is treated as 30.44 days, the average calendar month, and a year as 365 days. This covers the power bill only. FAQ

What does kWh mean?

A kilowatt-hour is one kilowatt of power drawn for one hour. It is the unit electricity suppliers bill you in, so it is what turns a machine's wattage into a cost.

How do I find my electricity rate?

It is on your utility bill, usually shown as a price per kWh. Rates often vary by time of day, and industrial or hosted mining rates differ substantially from domestic ones.

Does this include cooling?

No. It covers the machine's own draw. Cooling, ventilation and any hosting fees are extra, and cooling in particular can add meaningfully in a warm climate.
