Hashrate Beginner

Hashrate is the total computing power a mining network applies to finding new blocks, measured in hashes per second.

Bitcoin's hashrate is quoted in exahashes per second (EH/s), where one exahash is a quintillion attempts every second. It is the best single measure of how much real-world hardware and energy is committed to securing a chain.

For an individual miner, network hashrate is the denominator: your share of rewards is your own hashrate divided by the total. As the network grows, a fixed machine earns a steadily smaller slice.

This definition is educational and not financial advice. Crypto is volatile and high-risk — always do your own research.
